Frequently Asked Questions

Will I be able to accept your insurance?

I am able to accept insurance including Aetna, Optum, United, Oxford, and Blue Cross Blue Shield including Excellus and Anthem. If there's a suitcase on your BCBS card, my services may be covered under the BlueCard network (you can call 1-800-676-BLUE for support). If I am not in-network with your insurance, you may have out-of-network coverage available that I would offer needed assistance in using. If using insurance, we would complete an insurance check before meeting to determine your out-of-pocket cost. If I am not able to accept your insurance, I will offer referrals to providers who can accept other forms of insurance.

What is my out-of-pocket fee? Do I offer a reduced fee / sliding scale?

My standard fee is $175 for 1 hour appointments. I offer reduced fee appointments to a limited number of people who are experiencing financial hardship and are experiencing mental health difficulty affecting their functioning. If financial cost poses a barrier to counseling, I can provide information for low-cost counseling options.

Do I offer couples counseling?

Yes, I meet with a limited number couples and currently have a wait list for new couples appointments.

Do I meet with children?

My practice is limited to meeting with adults. For parents or caregivers with concerns about children, I can offer referral information as well as individual counseling focused on the challenges associated with caring for children.

How often do I meet with people?

I meet with most clients weekly or biweekly, however also schedule on a monthly, meeting-by-meeting, and as-needed basis, depending on needs and preferences.
